History Laguna Beach and things to do

Laguna Beach and all its beauty was discovered quite by chance. The first settlers began to occupy the region after the Civil War find little land that leaned to agriculture or livestock. It was not until the 1900s that the settlers discovered that people from all over wanted to visit their area because of its beauty and therefore need a place to stay. Sections of beach were constructed on the leases were placed along them. The idea emerged that many people were looking a place to escape the summer heat, and that the tourism industry began in this area.

This was quickly followed by tour groups and landscapers began to migrate into the region in early 1920. When painter Norman St. Claire visited San Francisco 1903 Laguna already become a popular tourist destination with a hotel: the Hotel Laguna. St. Claire has added to the prestige of the region through its paintings and stories from friends who lived in the south. Other Outdoor artists as William Wendt and Frank Cuprien also moved to Laguna Beach, giving the area crew for the great artist.

The continuing influx of many varieties of people in Laguna Beach added to the diversity of the city. Hollywood stars, retirees, gays, hippies, yuppies, and the most recent of the very well-done Laguna Beach made their home and added to the local culture.

Over the years, art galleries, museums, festivals and began to evolve this little creative community. The creation of a public beach park opened in the 1960s has contributed Laguna Beach become a tourist town in itself. Its newest addition is the Mount Laguna Beach which draws its own Hollywood crowd, including sometimes-resident Heather Locklear and Richie Sambora husband.

Residents and visitors can walk around Laguna Beach explore the tidal pools and enjoy the sunsets over the Pacific, as Indians, Spaniards and early artists who recognized Laguna charm made in a bygone era.

What is there to see and do while in Laguna Beach, in addition to its beautiful landscapes?

1. Laguna Art Museum - Located just steps from the Pacific Ocean at Laguna Beach. Museum visitors can enjoy permanent exhibitions of works of history, contemporary and emerging artists and browse the Museum Shop and Art Rental and Sales Gallery.

Here you can see seals and sea lions up close, explore the marine life in tidal pools, or experience of a reservation nature where you can see thousands of migratory birds. Learn more about the importance of wildlife and conservation. The tour allows you to see the picturesque town Laguna Beach, with its fabulous restaurants and shops.

4. Adventure Tours South County surf and kayak tours - offering a touch of local knowledge on specific issues interest with a great time in mind, providing great guides, and personal attention. 7. Lagunatics - An event fall Lagunatics has been an annual tradition since 1992. The cast features local personalities, politicians, and an amazing array of talent with credits from Broadway to the largest showrooms Las Vegas most beautiful theaters in Southern California.

Although Laguna Beach perhaps never been large farm and ranch country, it is certainly place of unique character that can not be missed.
